Overview
This POC (Proof of Concept) was conducted by the Indonesian subsidiary of Taiwan's Z-COM in the PO1BDG area of Cipendeuy Village, West Java. The goal was to provide free Wi-Fi to improve network access and information exchange for villagers. The project involved installing outdoor wireless access points and promoting the service to ensure a stable number of daily active users. Two outdoor access points from Z-COM, along with a wireless controller (WLC), were used. The access points connected directly to the Modem ONU GPON interface, using VLAN in Ethernet mode and PoE for power, eliminating the need for additional power lines.
Deployment
Access Point Setup : Technicians set up the access points, connecting directly to the Modem ONU GPON interface using VLAN in Ethernet mode.
Power Supply : The access points were powered through PoE, requiring only a single LAN cable.
Installation Location : The access points were installed on 7-meter-high poles to ensure wide signal coverage.
Achievement
l Active Users : Estimated 30 active users daily at the village committee and RW03 PO1BDG Desa Cipendeuy.
l Wi-Fi Hotspot Service : Mobile phones connected to SSID/WI-FI “Fee WiFi Corpnet Cipendeuy” by clicking the "Free Wi-Fi Available, Click Here" interface.
l Digital Equality : The project promoted digital equality by improving network access, reducing the digital gap between rural and urban areas.
